Whew, I finally took the trip I’d been talking about for years. I traded in my overpacked to-do list for a suitcase and headed overseas for my first international vacation and first cruise ever. And what a ride it’s been!
They say life begins at 50, but I’ve decided not to wait that long. This Wednesday, I’m boarding a flight to Athens, Greece. This will be my first time ever leaving the country. Yes, ever. And while my cruise aboard Virgin Voyages’ Resilient Lady doesn’t set sail until Sunday, I’m heading over early to breathe it all in on my own time, in my own way.
Between major work projects at my 9 to 5, managing rising costs in my boutique, mourning a family loss, and keeping up with daily life, I hit a wall. And not a cute Pinterest-style vision board wall. I mean a full-force, “why am I crying in the Starbucks drive-thru?” kind of wall.
The last couple of weeks have been tough. My family has been navigating a loss, and it’s one of those kinds of pain that just lingers, quietly, heavily, and in moments you don’t even expect.
